Once Upon a Time - Crossed Life AU

There was nothing left for Chris in Beacon Hills. He had lost his wife and daughter. All that he had held dear beyond them was destroyed as well. All he had known, he now knew, had been a lie. Paris had been helpful in Chris finding at least a calm, even if it was a hollowness he clung to. He had nothing left but two things. Stopping his sister, and continuing to protect others.

For the most part the two went hand in hand, but when he got a call from a hunter he knew worrying about a possible rogue in Maine, he decided to catch a plane and help them check things out.

The trio had split up somewhere around midnight, not having found a single sight or sound of any type of wildlife. Honestly that was worrisome for Chris, and he wasn't letting his guard down. He had come over a small ridge when he realized that what should have been forest, and was shown that way on the map he'd been given, had given way to what looked like a town. At least it looked that way in the dark, a few lights showing but not many at that hour.

Carefully holstering his weapon, Chris moved closer to the edge of the village, a heavy frown curving his mouth.

"Why don't you show on the map," he muttered, having the fleeting, and terrifying, though that maybe this wasn't a rogue but a pack that had made a home of their own?

Emma was walking through the forest as she was prone to do these days. She had started after Neal died, and after she told Killian that things wouldn't work out. It was something that Emma just felt down deep in her soul. Hook wasn't her destiny, and neither was Neal, although she had thought so at the time. Henry was living proof of that.

She was restless, her heart waiting to find something, only she didn't know quite why. She stepped out of the woods and onto the road, stopping dead in her tracks. There was a man standing on the other side of the town line. People never came to storybrooke, so that made Emma immediately suspicious.

There was something about this man though that called to her. Maybe he was just another lost soul like she was. She reached a hand up and rested it against the barrier.

Emma lowered her hand slowly staring at the man. "You can see me?" She said amazed, because usually most people couldn't see beyond the magical barrier.

Emma knew that she should leave this stranger, and go and get Regina, but there was something about this man that reminded of her that Emma just couldn't leave.

"You believe in magic?" She asked, as she stepped through the barrier, it shimmering softly around her.

Emma smiled but the expression on her face was serious. "Not exactly," She said. "Do you really want to know?"

Emma had a feeling that he did or he wouldn't be here right now. "I'll need your gun first though. I will not have my family put in harms way. How did you find us anyway?"

Emma shook her head, because there was no way in hell that she was taking him in town armed.

"No dice. My son is in there, and I am not bringing an armed stranger in town," Emma spoke confidently. "The gun comes with me, but I will let you keep the knives."

Emma looked at him critically. "Look, I can read people well, and you look a little lost. Let me help?" She held out her hand.

Emma could read people like an open book, so she knew he wasn't lying. "Fine leave the gun. You keep the knife but if you draw it without being provoked you are going to have me to deal with okay?"

She reached out a hand for him to take. It was the only way he was getting through the barrier after all.
